Unit 54 Film and Video Techniques

research and brainstorms into our video production

1.      Toy stop motion animation, toy tries to propose to other toy many times over but is interrupted or killed every time- before he proposes they stare into each others eyes, camera slowly zooming into their face whilst the theme tune from titanic is playing and then a mishap happens over and over again almost killing the man character. Could include small flashbacks to the set up of the joke.

2.     Cooking with slender- a cookery show with slender man, adding in subtle little horrific jokes like opening the fridge to get the milk, inside the fridge is a dead body, the notes scattered around in the game are actually cookery recipes

Making hot dogs- tim and eric style

Rejuvenating skin lotion- put it all over my self and become young once again- use my sister as the younger me

All way wanted to be a poo- poo cream, wipe it over your body and become poo!
Cover my self in nutella-

Hi im tyron from cinco laboratories and im here today to show you the new “poo you”

This revolutionary poo cream allows me to live out my wildest fantasies
I’ve always wanted to be a poo from a young age, now with this product I can!

Simply put down a moist towlette,  apply poo cream to your armpits, naval and between your toes and within 3 to 48 and a half minutes you too can be poo.

-       cuts from putting on the cream to a poo being on the chair

wow thanks cinco for making my life complete

theses two videos sum up the inspiration for my video, i will try and mix the two together

this was another exercise to complete, in this task we had to film a video with other students based on a theme or idea given to us.

we had 30 mins to brainstorm storyboards and then 45 mins to film.

a powerpoint presentation reviewing the final joker scene in the dark knight

this is the 2 minute film produced for this unit

Unit 54 – Film & Video editing techniques
Analyse & review your video sequence

Student names and production roles:

Tyron sheppard- cameraman, lead production, lead director, catering

Identify any production errors or mistakes in you video sequence?
I wouldn’t say there are many production errors with my video as the whole idea of absurdity and wrongness was put across perfectly, the only main concern I had with the production of my video was the sound quality, I had the sound from the video playing whilst my backing track was playing over it, if I had spent more time with it I could have reached a more professional sound balance between the two. I would have also like to add a few slow motion scenes that further back up the feeling of grossness and all out mind screwing.
Continuity wasn’t a main concern with the video as the way I filmed it was very linear but also removing things from scene like the beginning “sauce on table” and the fish fingers on the table were there to add to the effect of chaos in the kitchen and things that a normal person wouldn’t do.
What did you learn today from your individual production role?
I have learned that I come up with many ideas pre production that aren’t necessarily practical given the amount of time on this brief. I could scale down my ideas and the ideas I did have weren’t really fitting with my intended feeling I wanted to share with the audience. I have also learned that with enough time and enough research into all different types of independent movie and five star quality productions I can adequately create a piece of work. I now know I can move past my normal comfort zone of sticking with sketching and now branch out to other forms of media. This will be a helpful ability for the future
If you were to do it again, what would you change?
I wouldn’t change much if I were to do it again, perhaps I would allow for the credits to roll a little longer and make the type face stand out so the viewer is actually drawn to it instead of turning it off as reading the credits allow for a clean transition into the ending of the short, without reading the credits the ending after the ending seems a little pointless but it does add to the comedy and general theme of the video short.
I would perhaps add a few slow motion scenes, repeating things like the buttering of the crumpet with the marmite spread, the slapping of the knife in slow motion added with the sound of the slapping would have made it funnier in my opinion. My inspiration for this video takes aspects from the “Tim and Eric show” on YouTube/adult swim TV
